UMMC celebrated a culture of patient safety and care with its Patient Safety Week March 8-12. During the week, inpatient and ambulatory units were recognized daily in an Olympic-style village with gold, silver, and bronze medals for their accomplishments in safety metrics that included hospital acquired infections, patient experience, and hand hygiene.

The Department of Dermatology received several awards, including silver medals in “Highest I-Care review 7 days compliance for CY 2020” and “Provider communication through MyChart”. Other accomplishments the department garnered throughout 2020 are nominations for the nurse all-star and hall of fame awards, zero specimen labeling errors, and implementation of a Data Derm benchmarking registry.
